Fanjingshan Lodge Masterplan

Tucked deep within the mountainous folds of Guizhou, this masterplan envisions the revival of a long-abandoned village as a high-altitude retreat and cultural sanctuary. The proposal reactivates over 70 existing structures through a phased intervention strategy, weaving new functions—lodging, wellness, and gathering—into the original vernacular fabric.

Instead of overwriting the site, the design respects its topography, microclimates, and the memory embedded in each ruin. Adaptive reuse, timber frame infills, and discreet landscape stitching are employed to retain the spirit of place while meeting the standards of contemporary hospitality.

More than a hotel complex, the project positions architecture as a medium of cultural revival—where restoration, storytelling, and ecology intersect to reshape the future of rural luxury.
